There's An Online Store To Help You Smuggle Grog Into Festivals

There's An Online Store To Help You Smuggle Grog Into Festivals

Smuggle Your Alcohol is one of those websites that does exactly what it says on the tin. Its one purpose to help you subtly and effectively smuggle grog into music festivals, which is something we certainly don't advise you do.

But then again, we know telling people not to do something is as good as begging them to do it, so we're just gonna carry on talking about this whacky website and its fairly ingenious products, like flasks that look like sunscreen bottles.

But the creativity doesn't stop there. As Stoney Roads notes, there's candy box flasks, binocular flasks, hairbrush flasks, insect repellant flasks, a flask that looks like a can of Lynx deodorant, and even a flask that looks like a scarf.

One the one hand, this is amazing. It's like an Amazon or an Etsy for the express purpose of getting smashed at a music festival. On the other hand, once organisers and the authorities get wise to this site, they're gonna start twisting the top off everything in your bag at the entrance.

We can't attest to the quality of the products, though they do look pretty good. The sunscreen flasks look like actual tubes of sunscreen and the Lynx can is very convincing and they don't cost an arm and a leg either, with your standard sunscreen flask running about $16.95.

Lana Del Rey Pays Tribute to Leonard Cohen

Lana Del Rey Pays Tribute to Leonard Cohen

Yesterday, it was announced that singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen had died at the age of 82. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. He passed away on Monday and was buried yesterday at Montreal's Congregation Shaar Hashomayim. Upon announcement of his death, people from around the music community and beyond paid their respects to the icon. Lana Del Rey, who covered Leonard Cohen's 1974 song “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” in 2013, honored Cohen today with a post on her Instagram. Find the post below. “I'd be lying if I said it didn't kind of break my heart that I never got to tell you how much you changed me,” she said in the caption of a clip with the cover. “Not that it would've mattered to ya, it's just that other than Bob and Joan you were the only person I ever really felt spoke my language.”

Beck, Win Butler, Nick Cave, Ezra Koenig, and Justin Trudeau were among the many people who paid tribute to Leonard Cohen after hearing of his death. Earlier today, Deerhunter's Bradford Cox penned a touching eulogy for the fallen icon.

Joyce DiDonato: In War and Peace CD review – a heartfelt message

Joyce DiDonato (mezzo-soprano), Il Pomo d'Oro/ Emelyanychev
(Erato)

In the midst of chaos, how do I find peace, asks Joyce DiDonato. The American mezzo-soprano has applied her usual curiosity and seriousness to the question in her latest themed CD, In War and Peace, drawn from baroque opera and oratorio with an emphasis on Handel and Purcell. The prompt for the album – which meant jettisoning another – was the attacks in Paris last year. The “war” tracks open with Handel's Scenes of Horror, and mix familiar (Dido's Lament, Lascia ch'io pianga) with an arresting world premiere recording from Leonardo Leo's Adromaca (1742). In “peace”, Monteverdi and Jommelli feature too. DiDonato brings technical security and a variety of tonal colours to each aria. Il Pomo d'Oro offer bristling accompaniment under principal conductor Maxim Emelyanychev. Purists may quibble here and there, but it's hard to resist DiDonato's heartfelt message.

Watch A$AP Mob's New Money Man Short Film ft. A$AP Rocky, Skepta

As promised last week, A$AP Mob's new film Money Man is finally out. The 12-minute flick is a grainy black-and-white romp through criminal enterprise, reckless discharge of multiple weapons, and some gobbledygook about poisonous butterflies. The art film also features two new songs set to appear on A$AP Mob's upcoming Cozy Tapes Vol. 1: "Money Man" with A$AP Rocky and A$AP Nast…
